Nathan Hiltz (electric guitar, bass pedals) is a Juno winning guitarist originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia currently residing in
Toronto. He attended Humber College of Music for his B.Mus and is currently attending University of Toronto for M.Mus. He
has won the Peter Harris Award for Guitarist of the Year (Humber College), Duke Ellington Award for Excellence (Humber
College), Ontario Arts Council Recording Grant, and the 2008 Juno for Traditional Jazz Album of the Year (with Brandi
Disterheft). Nathan has appeared on 15 albums and has performed with the likes of Bob Mclaren, Terry Clark, Phil Dwyer,
Laura Hubert, Mike Murley, Adrian Farugia, Jake Wilkinson, Quinsin Nachoff, and Renee Rosnes among others. Nathan has
studied with Reg Schwager, Pat Coleman, Don Palmer, Lorne Lofsky, Ted Quinlan, David Occhipinti, and Jim Hall. In 2009
Nathan's group the Griffith Hiltz Trio was nominated for the Grand Prix Du Jazz at the Montreal Jazz Festival. Their new
album, 'Now and Then', was chosen as album of the year for 2009 by Jazz Fm91's host Terry Mcelligott.
